Memory Lane Car
This beautiful historical car is now for sale by long term owners, James and Karen Phillips, with all its documented history and cherished photographs, letters, magazine and press articles.
The first time the car has been for sale in nearly 50 years with known provenance. It is a matching number car in original Opalescent Dark Green and Tan Leather trim, and in concourse condition
having won Jaguar Driver’s Club certificates and taken part in the Hampton Court Inter-Club concourse in 2014, and the Hurlingham Club by invitation. It has had continuous use since a major sympathetic restoration was completed some 25 years ago, and has attended many prestigious functions such as Royal Ascot, Le Mans Classic, and of course, Goodwood.
HRH Prince Michael was re-united, some years ago, with ‘his favorite old car’, and has driven it a number of times in recent years. When new in 1965, he took the E-Type to Germany as a young Captain in the 11th Hussars. Many trips at high speed on army business ensued down the Autobahns at up to an indicated 150 mph.
The photo below:
‘HRH Prince Michael of Kent about to drive Lord March around the Goodwood track at the 2011 Revival in his old E Type Jaguar. To celebrate 50 years of E-Type manufacture, they drove the track as they did in 1965 when Prince Michael was 22 and Lord March was 8 years old.’
